Disregard of ill-health

I joined the gym in 2011 on a promotion, and immediately I developed a health complication. My doctors indicated I was not to go into the gym (had gone through an operation internally). I did not commence the training except the first night of orientation after joining.
I was unfit for the gym, I notified the gym I would not be able to continue anymore. The debit orders kept going through in months. I haven't been on salary since July 2012. I got a Lawyer's letter showing a statement where I am owing the Gym R10, 000 plus. The lawyers called & indicated I have ignored all forms of communication (I have never received such though since). All I know the debit orders stopped going through my account when I stopped earning a salary last year). They also indicate I gave them false contact numbers (0714534458 - which was my work contract number for years) &my brother's no also (they say it is a false number). The monthly instalment was R300, I cant tell the basis of their statement. I approached the Gym & they indicated thisis contractual despite the health problem. I even proposed we resume the contract now as I am now fit. They refused. Now I am retrenched.
