Take "not fit for purpose" returns seriously!

Order number 1122433. I bought a Western Digital Live TV media player based largely on the positive reviews on [URL Removed] After unboxing it and setting it up, I discovered that the unit has no volume control function. I believe one should expect a media player to have volume control for it to perform the function it was advertised to perform. So I contacted Takealot and gave them the full story and initially the response was empathetic and positive. Then I received a mail asking if the unit was still sealed. I had already told them I had set it up briefly - it was impossible to discover the lack of volume control without using it. Now they say they can only credit me if their supplier credits them. I pointed out that the unit is in fact not fit for the purpose it was sold for and that the CPA makes specific provision for this, at which point I the response became abrupt and disinterested. I've been buying from Takealot for years, but this will be my last purchase anyless this is sorted out!
