Unacceptable delay in feedback

On 7 March I ordered two textbooks for my tertiary studies from [URL Removed] (order number 5903088). The estimated delivery date of my order was 10 April. My assignment, for which the textbook is a necessity, is due at the end of April.

On 10 April I received an email informing me that the order for one of the textbooks had been cancelled due to a lack of stock and that I will be reimbursed the amount of the book.

While I appreciate that there is a lack of stock and I am pleased to get the money back, my complaint is that over a month passed and the due date for my order arrived (even though I am still waiting for my other book) before I was informed of the problem with my order. As a result, I now have to find the textbook from somewhere else, which I am battling to do. And I am now so close to my assignment deadline that I'm not sure if I will receive the book in time.

Why was I not informed of the problem earlier so that I could make altertaive arrangements with time to spare?
