Poor response to consumer protection

In March I purchased an LG Microwave from House & Home at Sandown Crossing Cape Town. I followed installation directions in the manual which instructed me to place a glass of water in the microwave and turn it on for 1 minute. The manual assured me that if the water was warm, the microwave was working, which it was. The front of the microwave has a mirror finish so you are not able to see into the microwave, on or off. Over the following few days we noticed that food was heating unevenly. There appeared no reason for this so we continued to use the microwave trying different food placements and bowls in case we were doing something wrong. I eventually noticed that the turntable was not turning. (I had to peer into the microwave with my face pressed up to the door in order to spot this).
I returned to House & Home to replace my microwave, which the consumer protection act assures me I am allowed a 6 month period to do it in. I was unable to return it earlier as my infant was in hospital.
Michael (Sales Manager) informs me, while I am waiting with my infant on one hip that as I waited longer than 7 days, I now need to wait 21 days for them to repair it. This is unacceptable!
