Shoprite
Disgusted and Sick

Shops, Products, Services

My wife and I had visited the Shoprite store @ amanzimtoti with our kids. Our intentions were to just buy the usual day to day items. My kids love the Black cat peanut butter and we purchased a 400 G bottle on the 21/03 13 .As soon as we got home that very same evening, the kids could not wait to have peanut butter sandwiches. We all had the sandwiches only to get up the very next morning feeling sick nauseous with stomach cramps and diarrhea. We had to rush to our GP to be treated. My wife is expecting and this was very concerning for us. After having got back from the doctor, I enquired from my wife as to what we may have eaten as all of us had fallen sick at the very same time. When e traced it to the peanut butter sold at your store. It did not make sense as we always had peanut butter sandwiches, vbut futthe investigations lead us to the expiry date on the bottle which indicates that the item had expired in August 2012.

This is not acceptable at all. Your store is selling expired goods which is detrimental to the health of your patrons .a bottle of this peanut butter cost as little as R22.00 yet it costed me close to R650.00 in medical expenses
