My Forever diamond wedding ring ruined foreve

My wedding ring was purchased during 2008. During June 2011 the diamond of my ring fell out. I took it to Sterns Kenilworth centre to have the diamond refit, as I bought it from Sterns.
On collecting my ring the white gold was pressed down on the diamond ruining the ring and possibly the diamond too. Why didn't Sterns KC notice this when they received the ring back from the jeweller. I gave the ring back for repairs.
The ring was original in the form of a claw fit. Now the ring is completely ruined with scratches and the words 'forever''on the inside is not clear. All I wanted was for them to fix my ring to exactly the way it looked before.
I use to smile when I looked at my ring cos I really loved my ring, but now I frown when I look at it. because sterns ruined it.
