David Bowie - The Next Day

So, David Bowie releases his first album in 10 years. Major music news. David Bowie even lists the release date for South Africa as being the same as the rest of the world, 11 March.

I can Sony South Africa to check. They tell me that it was shipped to all stores on Monday and I should be able to buy it anywhere.

I walk in to a Musica branch on the Tuesday. No sign of it on the shelves. I ask the staff, who seem not to know what a David Bowie is. They look on their computer, see that such a thing as a David Bowie album exists and is sat in a Musica warehouse. They tell me that it will "probably" be sent to stores in the next week or so.

Bravo, Musica, well done. One of the biggest music events in years and South African based fans cannot be part of the excitement because you cannot be bothered to move things from your warehouse.

It is not something I would do myself, but it is little wonder so many people download these things for free. At least the pirates stick to the release dates!
