Vodacom contract phone with mtn sim, no warranty

I have purchased a vodacom contract specifically for iPhone 5 in jan 2013. I immediately did a sim swap as I wanted to have my mtn number on my iPhone 5 . incredible connection offered me the vodacom contract and no
One specified to me that if I changed my sim to any network besides the current, my warranties would be forfeited. I have had troubles with my iPhone 5, it keeps on dropping network. No service continuously comes up.
I had chatted to mtn customer care and they indicate its not the network but the phone. I am sitting with this problem as incredible connection is not taking my phone for repairs as they indicate that I used an mtn sim.
I think this explanation is not acceptable and it's should be there problem as they sold me faulty handset.
It does not matter which service provider you use, your product you market is faulty. There should be no excuses.
Also it is very common that consumers change sim to different phones all the time, does this mean that they lose there warranties. The lady that I purchased the contract from did not indicate this to me. I feel that I have been prejudiced and incredible connection should sort out this problem
