Card Declined but money out of account, double pai

On Friday, 11 January 2013 my card was declined at cashier. I received an sms from my bank stating that the money did go through. The manager, Marie, informed me that the money will be back in my account by midnight. I paid cash for the transaction.

Today, Saturday, 12 January 2013, the money was still not in my account. I printed a statement at the ATM and asked for my money to be refunded, as I have clearly double paid for this transaction. Today I was informed that their auditors will only be back on Monday and only then can they refund me for the double payment. I have to bring a bank statement along and the clear proof that I already have, i.e. the bank generated sms and the mini statement from the ATM was not enough proof that I have already double paid.

No apology was offered for the inconvenience and that this will have to be my third trip to Spar to clearly rectify their incorrect system, kilometers travelled to the Spar is about 20km and the bank costs to get statements and time spent to rectify their mistake.
