African bank not following up accounts

My complaint is about my furniture city account, almost a year ago my wife lost her job and I had a hard time making the full installment on my account so I got in contact with them and they said I need to speak to African bank about my problem. When I spoke to them and ask if I can pay maybe half of the installment for about 3 months just to get me back on my feet again they said it was fine but the account would return to the normal installment after 3 months. Now as I have stated before, this was about a year ago and my account hasn't return to its normal installment. Now I have receive a message from African bank stating that I have been blacklisted because of overdue amounts of about R5975.18 and I only owe them R8751.81. My point is that it is a debit order and I personally can not change it myself. If someone in African bank can not see the problem with my account then why should I be punched for it? I mean it's not like I haven't been paying so why I'm I blacklisted and why hasn't anyone phoned me about it from African bank. I hope someone can inform my about what action I can take to fix this problem.
