Makro's word is not worth the paper its written on

On the 03/03/12 I purchased a Karcher high pressure washer model 5.7. This machine set me back R3999. Now on the 09/02/13 one of the attachments (Spray lance with dirt blaster) stopped functioning correctly, I took ONLY the part back to Makro the following weekend as that time suited me best. With guarantee in hand I explained to the very helpful staff what the issue was- but reluctantly they told me that they would not be able to help me. How is this possible when in the guarentee it states;

"At any time within ONE YEAR from date of purchase by the first user, K? rcher (PTY) Ltd, will at its election replace or repair without cost to the first user, if necessary through an AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEALER, ANY PART found to be defective in this appliance. This includes labour, but excludes transport between the customers premises and the nearest authorised K? rcher service depot.

To my knowledge a year has not lapsed and this appliance along with ALL its parts are still under guarantee!
I do love Makro and I have supported the business for many years, however, this incident puts a bad taste in my mouth!
