Well it's not our problem

A payment went through on my bank statement for our groceries but their system showed it had not been paid. There was NO slip indicating a "Decline" or anything like that and I received my sms to say it was paid. But they refused to give us our stuff... They cannot let us leave as we haven't paid?!?!?! But what about the fact that the money was taken from my account??? With a laughing face the Manager just said "Oh well, we can't let you take it, I am not the bank so don't be angry with me". I mean REALLY?!?!?!?!?! After fighting and phoning the bank back-and forth it got sorted but the attitude of this manager was horrific!!! We had our 11month old son with us, it was 7pm so time for dinner etc. but he could just NOT BE BOTHERED. Their other response was "this happens a lot" but when we asked "so how do you solve it" they could not answer us. He is clearly in the wrong industry because customer service just did not surface last night.
