Infuriated with how they dealt with offline bank

I spent an hour and a half doing my monthly shop, I then stood in a queue for 20 minutes. Upon trying to pay, my card was declined 6 or 7 times until a manager was called to the till. When she arrived, she told me (matter of factly) that Standard Bank was offline and I should withdraw the amount due from an atm. Unfortunately the amount exceeded my daily withdrawal limit and I was not able to do the transaction.

My anger comes in with how this was dealt with. Throughout my shop, there were intercom announcements calling staff to various points in the shop. What I don't understand is why they didn't make an announcement informing Standard Bank shoppers that the system was offline. Even posters at the entrance would have helped. I was also informed that the system had been turbulent the whole day and so it ceases to amaze me that they didn't have the foresight to communicate this to their shoppers.

I basically spent 2 hours in Canal Walk just to pay for parking. Next time I'll go to a different franchise because at least parking there is free.
