Broken and returned goods put on for sale

Went to your store to purchase a fan. Took the last box on the shelf.

When I went to the cashier we opened the box that was found to be resealed. I was worried as I saw scuffs on the front and a loose piece in box. I was told by the cashier that as long as I had my slip there would be a 12 month exchange policy.

I got home and found that the fan didnt turn but I could feel the motor working.

This is clearly a returned item and it was returned most probably due to its non functioning.

Does clicks not have a process to prevent broken and returned goods being put back on shelf for resale??

Its costing me petrol to drive to your store. I feel your company should be grateful that customers are choosing to make purchase at your store over your competitors in setting basic standards.

Please advise what is to be done to rectify this position. I would like to know before returning to the store at my cost.
