PAID ALMOST DOUBLE MY STATEMENT BALANCE

I have in front of me a statement for amount owing R58.33 dated 12/12/13. When I went into the store yesterday to make payment .. I paid R104.00. I expected to pay R60.00 with the late charges not R104.00

Did I get charged R45.67 in interest for making a late payment. Why is statement dated 12/12/13 R58.33 and 1 month later, the amount owing is R104.00 is going on???
I paid this amount as maybe next month amount owing would be R200 and didnt want to get ripped off again so I paid this amount begrudgingly but i raised a dispute... Why did my balance escalate so much???
