Exchanging a Phone

My sister bought me a phone yesterday using her account from Exact. she bought a S3 mini and I was looking for S3 the normal one. I asked her to return the phone today and take one of my choice. unfortunately when she got there they refused to exchange the phone. The phone is still in the box sealed I didn't even use it at all. I really fail to understand why Jessica refuse to take the phone back cause there's nothing wrong with the phone and it is still sellable. The phone still in the box with the receipt. is the a reason why they don't want to exchange the phone.
