Pick 'n Pay
Almost killed by the driver of a P'nP truck

Shops, Products, Services

I have sent an email re this matter to P'nP, but they did not bother to respond. At 12h45 on 28Dec we were travelling on the R72 towards Alexandria in a Land Rover Defender. A huge P'nP truck with trailers overtook us, ignoring the double lines. The number on the back of the truck was 9419. There was oncoming traffic and the driver must have seen the approaching cars. This is a single lane road with no space to pull over. A white 4X4 coming from the opposite direction, had to stop in the middle of the road to avoid a head on collision. We had to slam on brakes for fear of being pushed off the road when the truck swerved back into the lane. The authorities plead and threaten the public on a daily basis to drive responsibly and it is disgusting that a large company like P'nP prefers to ignore this type of behaviour. The scary thing is that this incident was not an error of judgement, but a calculated move by a driver who knew that the size of his vehicle gives him the power to do exactly as he pleases. Our family is still shaken by what almost happened to us.
