Festive Season leads to poor service

I arrived in the late afternoon to purchase a Dstv remote. The people responsible for the 'tech' department (about 4 of them) were standing chatting in the 'tech kiosk'. I stood there for about a minute while they completed their chat. Their 'senior' eventually attended to me. I asked for the said item and he referred me to Jet Mart next door because they were out of stock. Then he went back to his group chat. I went to Jet Mart, only to find they had last had the item in stock around July. I went back to find out from him why he was so poor in serving me. I established that his name was Ocean. He did not seem particularly bothered that he and his colleagues were not serving customers as they were supposed to. I eventually went to Customer Services. Unfortunately it was unmanned, but eventually a lady called Smangele, I think, tried to assist. We could not locate the manager so I eventually left without being assisted.
My concern is: Either GAME is over-staffed OR the staff has poor customer service at Christmas time... Alternatively, they might have looked at me and judged me as unworthy of their attention... Whatever the case, it makes one wonder why we have managers in stores
