No recourse for staff incompetence

My family & I have been loyal shoppers at Edgars for many years now but for the first time I have been treated very unfairly & unprofessionally. On 29/09/2012 my girlfriend bought me a gift at Edgars (XS Black) at cost of R700.00. The Sales Consultant was involved in the purchase process. We were handed the sealed box & as the sales person knew what we wanted, it was taken for granted that he would know what to give us. Unknown to us at that time, we paid & left with a bottle of after shave and not the perfume as requested. When I opened it a few weeks later I saw it was after shave & not the perfume. I immediately went to the store with the product & explained the problem but to no avail. Instead I was asked a ton of questions & was made out to be a trying to the store of a new, sealed bottle of the perfume. No assistance was given. I was even asked to walk around the store & point out the sales consultant! He could have been a casual worker; I did not even know his name. Yes, I did break the seal but that was due to the fact that I thought I was opening my perfume but I did not use any of it. What a shame. Edgars will never see me again!
