I was starving having not eaten breakfast. Last thing I ate was on Friday afternoon. A steak and kidney pie slice from Shoprite Port Shepstone. I have been sick ever since with vomitting and diarreah. I can still taste this steak and kidney pie slice on my breath, with the acrid taste of stomach acid. I am drinking water constantly to keep hydrated as I am breast feeding my little baby.

What was I thinking eating a pie? I made the mistake of assuming that a chain store as large as Shoprite would keep consistently good hygiene standards. I should have stopped after the first bite. It didn't taste very good, but thought perhaps it was because it was a pie slice and not a pie, but either way it had the consistency of fish paste, so the flavour wasn't the same. It wasn't pleasant going down, nor coming up.

It begs the question: what hygiene standards are we being subjected to as corners and costs are cut to increase the bottom line?

How old does beef have to be to have me chucking up my guts for two/three days (and counting)?

I am going to ask Shoprite not to bother responding with a "sorry and thanks for bringing this to our attention" instead, I want my doctor's bill reimbursed.
