Shoprite: Please Explain

I bought 3 different meals at Shoprite on Friday, March 22 at about 19h15. This was pap & beef stew, rice & beef stew and a separate lamb stew meal. The food was on reduced prices and I thought I had scored a bargain. I got a surprise of my life when I got home and discovered that all the food had a terrible smell. It was rotten and it all went to the dustbin. Unfortunately, I couldn't return it at the same time as the shop had already closed and my till slip was retained by a security guard at the exit. I feel that Shoprite is ripping the public off by selling food that has reached its sell by date. I realise that the food must have been prepared early and left in the warmer for a long time but surely they should have a system of checking whether it is still good for human consumption after a certain period. Shoprite must please explain why I ended up with rotten food in my trolley. Thank you.
