Appalling behaviour towards customers

I purchased a garment for my sister from the Sandton branch a couple of days ago. It did not fit her, so I said that I would exchange it. I went to the Hyde Park branch as it was more convenient for me. The manager inspected the garment as I browsed through the store. Him and his assistant then proceeded to smell the garment (I have a clothing store myself and I have never done this to a returned item; also I have never witnessed this sort of thing at any other store). They then said that it had a perfume smell on it. Furthermore, they claimed that the item had the wrong tag on it. I told them that this was their problem, as I had bought it from the Sandton branch and I had no reason to tamper with the tag. I voiced my concern that they were accusing me of or worse. The manager said that, due to the perfume smell, they would have to write off the stock. The discussion turned into an argument. Had he conducted himself appropriately, the matter could have been resolved in a professional manner. I'm a regular customer at Jenni Button, and the hurtful accusations have resulted in me never wanting to shop there again.
