Incompetent Tellers!

I paid off my overdue account in 2011, and asked the lady behind the till to close the account as i didn't want to be in that over-debt situation again. She said fine. Now - 2 yrs down the line i am unable to acquire any accounts or financial assist as THAT lady neglected to close the account, now its my problem and am on debt bureau and have a bad name... after all the effort of keeping my records clean and no debts for two years!!
I feel its unfair to me that I'm having a bad record and its their staff's negligence that caused the account to keep running! i did not go back and query it because according to me my account is closed and i have no further business with EDdgars. And when you talk to their accounts department, they give you the run-around to the recovery collections department, and the recovery department says the accounts must assist me - so no help anywhere anyways!! USELESS!!! I want to sue them for damaging my credit record!!
