My friend, Y, and I tried to exchange a denim jacket at Woolworths Cavendish which Y received for her birthday. We had the original tillslip and the tag. This was refused initially as Audrey indicated to us that the inside pocket lining had fluff. She told us that she cannot exchange it as it appears to her that the item has been worn and washed. We explained that it was never worn (at least not by Y) as it was too small. Audrey consulted with her supervisor and they refused to exchange it, now citing reason it was bought at the airport branch and that the jacket should never have left the store in that condition. If it did, the cashier would have made a note on the slip. We then asked the supervisor what would happen if we did an experiment right there and take the "damaged" jacket to THEIR till. Would their casher pick up the quality issue and make the note? No response. We then noticed that the larger sized jacket (which they had fetched from their shelves) had the same issue. Fluff on the pocket lining. At this point the supervisor agreed to exchange the jacket for us. However, we had to REMIND her to make a note on our slip that we accept the condition as is.
