Edgars treats loyalty of 40 years with contempt

We have had our Edgars' account for almost 40 years. I still have my card and a letter received from them last year asking us to collect a new card and also cards for family! As we were busy selling our home to move into a retirement home we weren't able to go to Westville to collect on time. We went into the store to explain and were told we had to fill in 'a new application' for an account after being loyal customers for so long. Our application was unbelievably refused. I approached the Credit Manager via email to explain our predicament and was told all our details have been deleted from the system. I offered to take our card and letter as proof of our account to which I have had no reply. There has been no apology or explanation for our treatment and one has to wonder if Edgars appreciates customer loyalty in any way at all. We have never been refused an account before so I find Edgars' treatment of it's loyal customers appalling and unbelievable.
