Accrued Annual Leave not paid out

Good day,
I was working for TFG in their design centre as part of a learnership program for the period of May 2012 to end April 2013, as a Fabric Buyers's Assistant.
As per the contract I signed, it stipulated that at the end of my contract I would be paid out any accrued annual leave that was due to me. This however did not happen. I followed up with HR immediately and only a month after finishing and only after numerous follow-ups from my side did I get a response. Cindy was basically very hostile and quite rude when she called me. She said that 'learners' do not get any accrued leave payouts. I spoke to a few of the other learners who was on the learnership with me and they received payment.
I feel like I was exploited, because not only was I doing a full days work, 7 days a week for a stipend of R2000 a month, but I was doing a good job. All deadlines that was set was met and I left TFG without any outstanding tasks.
