Failing to explain guarentee clause

On 2013-01-19 i purchased an ELEGANCE 10 000BTU PORTABLE AIRCON. at that stage when i queried the guarantee i was told that it comes with a 1 year guarantee. at no stage was i told anything about a 14 day money back guarantee or a 6 month return guarantee. from the very beginning the unit did not cool the way an aircon should but thinking it will get better i did not return the item. now that summer is coming in i decided to use the aircon again and it still does not cool the room. on 2013-10-03 @ 14:08 i took the aircon to MAKRO to return the item and get it exchanged or at the least be credited. i was told that seeing that the aircon is not faulty there is nothing they can do even though its under guarantee. i was then explained every reason as to what their policy and the consumer act states. only after making a noise about it did they agree to take it for repairs. i now feel extremely dissatisfied as a customer because the product does not do what its supposed to do and i am now stuck with a useless aircon and a waste of my R3000 because even though it has gone for repairs i know it will come back doing what it always did and that is be an aircooler and not an aircon.
