Off meat

Yesterday I bought 3 porterhouse T-Bone's, really looking forward to a lekker braai. The date on the pack was 11/09. When I opened the bags, the smell I got was very off. I do know that these steaks are matured and as I do not buy this often, I phoned my brother to ask about the smell. He informed me that it will have a bit of a smell but that after braaing it should be gone and I would taste if it is off. I braaied the meat and could still very slightly smell the offness, especially close to the bones. I cut pieces off that is farther away from the bones but after a couple of bites we rather left the meat as the taste was not lekker.
Thanks to you guys selling too matured meat, my dogs will be feasting on more than R200 worth of T-Bone steaks and we basically had chips for dinner.
