Pick 'n Pay
Family inconvenienced

Shops, Products, Services

On the 3rd September 2013 13:51 I purchased a 500g of garlic polony. It had a shelf label marked at R19, 90 but when I got to the till I was charged R22, 99. I did not see this as I was unloading other stuff from my basket. When I got home my daughter opened it and made a sandwich after tasting it she noticed it was an off colour and had a funny smell. Upon further inspection I noticed the best before date was the 28 June 2013. My daughter had stomach cramps and is ill after consuming a bit of the sandwich. The following day my two sons went to school with just plain butter and bread for lunch.

The morning of 4 September 2013 I returned to the Pick n Pay store to return the polony. At the returns desk I asked for the supervisor and was told there was none. I got a sorry from the assistant, was refunded and sent on my way.

It cost me an extra two taxi trips. My daughter is ill and I have no funds to take her to the doctor. This has inconvenienced my family. This not the way shopping is supposed to be. Does Pick n pay sell old stock at a reduced price?
