Pick 'n Pay
REFUSED TO SELL TO CUSTOMOR

Shops, Products, Services

On Friday 30th August my husband phoned me while I was on my way home just to stop and buy him some rum he is going to braai with a friend. Therefore I stopped at Pick 'n Pay Liquor because it was convenient for me. I walked into the shop took the bottle of rum and went to the till. As I approached the till the lady behind just shook her head and said? you cant buy that". I asked her why not and she said your pregnant, I was stunned, everybody in the shop was looking at me... Then a guy approached saying they don't sell liquor to pregnant women. I asked him where is the sign stating that, he says its in the liquor law, I said he must show it to me.. he looked on a certificate hanging on the wall bur could not show it to me. I told him I don't want to make a seen, and said so, you wont sell it to me and he said NO. I walked out with my blood red face feeling so humiliated in front of other customers. Its not about the rum, I don't even drink ever!! My husband can buy his own dam rum, its about the humiliation, what if I weren't pregnant, what if I was fat or had a tummy operation... luckily for them I am pregnant, what if I had a restaurant. I'm going to the papers with this.
