Esponsibility not taken for a defective item sold

Three weeks ago on asaturday was sold a defective laptop of which i only realised on the second week, which is last saturday, that it had problems, the screen showed lines when opened instead of a clear page. i took it to eastgate where i bought it. a samsung rep there, after inspecting it, agreed to give me a new laptop, however when i got to the return desk where they were doing the paper work, i was told that it was my fault of which i was astonished and greatly irritated to put it midly because if you have made a mistake as a person or business you take responsibility not blame it on the customer. it was then said it would be taken to Samsung for inspection on monday morning, however i was then called on that monday morningbefore 10am by game to say i would be sent qoutation for repairs with an amount i would have to pay. i refused since they had not gone to samsung, i was promised a call the following day from samsung, which never came, its a friday today, i havnt hearda word from any one..poor service is an understatement, i am enraged and disgusted..and the inconvenience i have been caused i can not explain
