Shop manager threw away a paid malfunc generato

After about 4 months of using the ryobi generator it broke, i returned it to the store immediately. and i was told that it was over-reved, and i must pay half of the amount that i bought the generator for. i asked the contact person to advise me on the causes of over reving and why does the big generator not have a trip for over-reving. i was told that there is nothing they can do more than to send me a qoute for this. sometime later i went to collect the generator and i was told that the store had thrown it in the rubbish dump. now i have paid money for this generator, only used it for 4 months, and the store refused to fix and or reimburse me, instead they decided to throw the evidence away. what kind of a service do you call that. i have called the manager of the store and i was promised that i will get this in writting still no response as i intend to take this up. how do you justify a payment of R 6000 to such a big store and get this kind of service, you wonder why there is so much stock in the shop and no buyers. you would rather go to other hardware stores than this.
