Unacceptable Customer Service

I bought a Phillips Powerlife 2200W Steam Iron from the Hyperama on 20/11/2012 (CO177 #0009) for R399.99. The power light kept going on and off and affected the heat. There were no more of the exact models on the shelves. The Phillips Powerlife 2100W on their shelf is now selling for R499.95. 100 Watt less for R100.00 more!! They would not replace the iron without me paying in the R100.00. Well I took the money and that will be my last visit to the Checkers Hyperama in Fourways Mall!! What a pity as I have a home business and have given them a lot of support in the past.
When Jonothan arrived at the information kiosk (he was called for me). The cashier at the other till summoned him to her for assistance, whilest I was kept waiting. Where has the customer service gone!!!
