Zara
NO REFUND FOR DAMAGED SHOES

Shops, Products, Services

I bought shoes at Zara for R599, not a small amount by any stretch of the imagination save for the ridiculously rich. Thus one can imagine my surprise when there was a defect noted on the left shoe wherein unlike the right corresponding one, the boot would not stay up. Unperturbed (Owing to the standard returns policy available on all goods at that store) I returned the shoe only to be told that I would have to wait for some or other people to ensure that the fault was a factory defect. My irritation stems from a) the fact that the process was handled with a residual level of a bad attitude towards me; b) also the fact that though obvious as it was that there indeed was a factory defect, they stated that there wasn't and they require me to come and fetch the boots. I find this to be a breach of the Consumer Act and I find their business practice to be unbecoming of a professional organization. The attitude towards me was especially worriesome as when I was purchasing (ie increasing their revenue) they were polite, but when I complained about their product, they developed a very negative outlook, with undertones. I need assistance in ensuring that my rights are not impugned.
