Disgusting customer service from manage

While waiting at the till to pay there was a problem with the price of a packet of pasta which had a price tag of R16.99 right underneath it. The till registered it as R49!
The sweet lady at the till promptly called the manager (I assume he was the manager, but unfortunately did not get his name), who then took the pasta in question and strolled straight past us without acknowledging us at all. He then returned to the till with the pasta that the price tag was referring to, and quite rudely just said, "This is the pasta at that price."
My partner then argued that it's not our job to check that the price tag matches the name and bar-code on the packet, and this man just blatantly interrupted her, saying that her understanding of the consumer protection act was completely inaccurate. He then started unpacking our grocery bag of goods that had already been rung up and further insulted us by saying that we were "just taking a chance"!
As we were leaving, I said that this wouldn't happen if the goods were labelled properly, after which this man insinuated that we incapable of reading!
In anger, I shouted "I can read very well" to which he replied "Are you sure? "
Completely unacceptable
