Wimpole Street Interiors
R 1500 for a filthy second hand cushion

Shops, Products, Services

I placed a custom cushion order with Wimpole Street Interiors on the 23 April at a cost of almost R 1500, but when I collected it, I saw it was made to the incorrect thickness. I brought it back to the shop to be re-done, having already paid in full. The cushion had to be sent back to the upholsterers twice because it was not re-done correctly, and during this process it was not protected with plastic and became covered in black dirty marks and grime and scuffed. Twice the salespeople tried to pass this cushion off on me and pretended not to notice the dirt. I finally got in touch with the owner, Robert Barrett, who denied fault, and instead put the blame on me for having returned the cushion to be redone. Apparently during this process "handling errors" could occur which they can't be held responsible for. He refused to have a new cushion made up or to refund me and will only "dry clean" the existing cushion despite the fact that it now looks second hand. I have now driven to the shop 6 times, have to drive there again because Rob refuses to deliver the order to me, and have forked out a lot of money for a cushion that I doubt I will ever be able to display in my home.
