Too busy to speak to a cash customer?

I walked into the store yesterday afternoon, wanting to buy a very expensive single chair - the sales person said she would check stock and phone me back, which she did. Just to tell me there is NO stock anywhere. That is the only chair, which i have admired for the past 6 months in the store. I asked if they would thus give me a discount, and I would pay cash for it.
The sales person was to speak to her manager and phone me back, which she did not.
I phoned the store, spoke to Philip the manager who was to speak to the Regional Manager Sandra for some discount, and did not phone back. The manager offered 5% discount on thecall, which I said I would accept, but he said he had to speak to Sandra first.
Half a day later, still no response from Philip.
So I phoned AGAIN, he was now "at the warehouse" and they are not ALLOWED to give out his cell number - good customer care?
I asked for Sandra's number - the person answering the phone did not have it, but put me trhough to Madelyn who gave me Sandras number, a cell number. Which she doesnt answer.

Are House & Home too busy to be bothered to speak to cash paying customers? For a sale of a SINGLE chair, costing over R4, 000
