ADT going back on account settlement

I have an account with ADT which was in arrears. I made an arrangement with Cyrella Jacobus from ADT Head Office to settle the account with a 40% discount. Cyrella said she can not give me the offer in writing, but as soon as I paid the outstanding amount, she would send me a paid up letter. I have all this on our email correspondence. After paying the amount due, I cannot get in contact with Cyrella and I am yet to receive the paid up letter. Today, I got a call from a debt collecting agency called DebtSource that was claiming that I need to pay the full amount without any discounts. I told them that I refuse to pay anything extra because I have already settled the account and sent proof of payment. DebtSource now claims that if I don't pay the balance, ADT will take further legal action. For me this seems to be a case of ADT possibly having sold its bad debt to DebtSource and now, DebtSource not being happy with the discount ADT gave me, now wanting to claim the difference from ADT.

I find the behaviour of ADT disgusting, not to mention that they continued to bill me for months even though my contract had already expired.
