Looper blu-ray not Full HD as labeled

I purchased Looper on blu-ray from Look & Listen. The product is distributed and manufactured by Sterkinekor for the South African market.

The disc case is labeled with the movie particulars, stating that the film is presented in 1080p 1.78:1. Upon viewing the movie I noticed that the picture looked particularly blurry and washed out. When I checked the output information on the blu-ray player I was surprised to see that the movie was being played back in 1080i/50 instead of the labeled 1080p/24. This is the case on two different players and is definitely not hardware related.

This is a blatant misrepresentation of a product that is supposedly full HD and charged accordingly. If I was aware of the above mentioned information I wouldn't have made the purchase. I will be returning the item to the store I bought it from for a refund.
