Gift Day gift vouchers

I purchased a gift voucher from Gift Day last year October as a gift for my husband (30 min kyalami Racing experience). When we wanted to reedeem the voucher we were informed the company had been liquidated. At no point did any member of staff from Gift Day contact us to notify us. I have been battling for 2 months trying to found out what has happened. I have eventually managed to get a lawyers telephone no and awaiting there call back. I see Gift Day still has a running website still allowing people to purchase vouchers, how is that allowed?
