Terrible communications

My aunt has a dstv decoder but she hardly watches tv, but pays every month, and last night when she decided to watch something for the first time in a while and there was a message on her screen that said her smart card was expiring at midnight. I called the call centre on her behalf and i was told yes but this message has been coming on screen for a year. I questioned whether communication have been sent out via email, sms, post or any other method, i was told no? And told yes but a message comes on screens! How does that help when a person actually hardly watches? Her account is paid the least you could do is send a communication via other methods!
