Can't cancel at month end?

I have just cancelled my subscription and wanted to do this for the end of the month as I had paid until then. After discussing this it was easier just to cancel from today. But then I only get a refund of R185 instead of half of R692 that was paid for November. I just couldn't hold on to question your agent as it had taken over 30 minutes to get that far.

Can I get a proper refund of 50%?
Can I get confirmation in writing that the cancellation has been done?
