I called the DSTV call centre to find out why I couldn't access the MGM channel. I was told that I don't have access because it is a specialist channel, like the Portuguese channel. I explained that it's a movie channel and I therefor didn't understand why it was considered specialist, but he continued to repeat the same thing over and over. I asked to speak to a supervisor to get an answer that made sense and instead of doing as his customer asked, I was asked why I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold until I eventually disconnected the call, a call that took 12 minutes and resulted in more frustration than before I called the call centre. I have since discovered via News24 that MGM is not available to it's Premium subscribers because 'they've seen the movies'. Please explain why I am being charged Premium subscriber rates if I am denied access to a channel that subscribers paying less have access to. And it wouldn't hurt to teach call centre staff how to behave professionally and answer questions properly.
