In January I applied for an unabridged birth certificate. After numerous calls and emails I was given a case number and after constant follow up calls I was informed that the birth certificate was ready for collection. This call came from head office yesterday. I confirmed with the agent that I would be going to the Edenvale office to collect the certificate.
The Edenvale office opened approximately 40 minutes late. After finally opening, I was informed that the printer was not working and then told that the office was off line. I was given my receipt back and asked to leave. I later found out that this was not at all the case and that the certificate was indeed printed at 8.20am at which time I was at the department at the teller's desk. This seems to be a deliberate exercise in power by the teller to get rid of me as she was too lazy to check the printer.
