Department of Education
Non Provision of Education Support to Qhaka JPS

Politics & Government

The Qhaka Junior Primary School at Qhaka Location in Port St Johns, promised the parents that they will be providing the grade 5 to their current grade 4 students in the following year (2014) however the Department of Education from Umtata arrived at Qhaka JPS and advised the educators that they are going to close the grade 4 classes as it is not known at Umtata and therefore there will be no grade 5 in the following year the school will end at grade 3. The rumours is that the Department want to put High School there. The Parents of Qhaka location are now very frustrated by this situation as this school was their last hope as it provides best education and foundation to their children. The other school that is also at Qhaka Location is far from these children as they are still young, it has no school facilities as the children are sitting on the floor since there is no chairs, furthermore there is lack of education foundation delivery to the lower grade as the child who passed grade 5 couldn't read and write and this child was helped by being taken to Qhaka JPS and started from grade 3 in 2012 and now is doing grade 4 at Qhaka JPS and is doing very well.
