Last minute bookings, and no cancellation fee

Transnet requested a qoutation for an MC to direct their programme for six roadshows in Cape Town and Saldanha. They called and confirmed last minute, just before the end of business day and promised to send the purchase order shortly. That was the first lie. They urged that the artist should be in Saldanha in the morning. After the first event their procurement department decided to go back on their word. They refused to pay a cancellation fee for the remaining five events, even though we had told them of the opportuity cost of the artist accepting their event and turning down other work.

After much discussion and deliberation, the artist is represented by my business and if Transnet will not pay the artist, that leave my business to carry the cost. I don't think that Transnet should continue to disadvantage small businesses that are trying to do business with them. The and unethical business practice demonstrated when I challenged this matter is shocking to say the least.
