Our Heroes in Blue

On Tuesday 08/10/2013 at 22h00 we were held up by three armed robbers in our house. Without going into too much detail, it ended in a shootout where one of the suspects were killed and another wounded. Within 5 minutes of the first shot being fired Tactical Reaction Services arrived and shortly afterwards SAPS and Netcare Emergency Services arrived just after them. The service and support we received from SAPS (from the station commander right down), Netcare and Tactical Reaction Services were incredible. In our eyes SAPS went from zero to absolute heroes. After all the negative publicity regarding the South African Police Force we can say that we've dealt with very professional and dedicated officers whose jobs are very dangerous and often thankless. Our faith and believe in the police force were definitely restored. So from the van Niekerks, thank you Midrand SAPS. FYI - the suspects were identified as from Mozambique.
