Why is contro-vision signage not allowed?

Politics & Government

I was pulled over today by a traffic officer in Milnerton Cape Town. He fined me for my vehicle signage. He insinuated that I was making use of free advertising. He then told me my signage was illegal.

First of it's it is completely see-threw from the inside of the vehicle. It is called contro-vision.

Secondly, I drive a Renault panel van, which also makes models that are with a solid back and sides.

How can those vehicles be "legal" and my similar vehicle be "illegal"? Especially since my vehicle you can actually see-threw as it is conto-vision signage, not any solid lettering on the windows.

Please I'd really love some advice.

The signage that I peeled off was worth R2000 and I still have to pay a R500 fine.

I'm most unhappy, I can fully understand if it was solid lettering, but see-threw graphics which my vision of the road is completely unobstructed? In almost two years, I've driven past 100's of traffic cops and nobody has ever said anything to me about the graphics, ever.

Now all of a sudden? I had no idea.
