SA Post Office
Non-delivery of parcels - no response from contact

Miscellaneous

I have 5 domestic parcels all stuck at the respective post office branches where they were initially posted. No movement has been registered since 15 February 2013. Apparently there is a strike that is ongoing at the sorting hubs, which is the cause of the delay. This situation has been kept rather quiet in the media and the SAPO webiste is woefully short on updates, and the releases on the website border on misleading.

I have tried contacting the call centre, but listening to that incessant recording asking me to hold on as my call is important really gives me an idea of how "important" our calls are.

This level of inefficiency is unacceptable. Surely contingency measures should be put in place as this is certainly not the first time this has happened. This affects the livelihoods of people who rely on postal services. Is it little wonder then that after this debacle, I will definitely be using private courier services.
