Eskom
TARIF RIPOFFS

Miscellaneous

Eskom supplies electricity to users with different tariffs. The tariff used for homes in country areas is landline 1, 2 or 3. This tariff consists of a service charge of R14.31 per day a network charge of R17.47 per day plus R0.7987 per unit of electricity, Plus a levy of R0.036 per unit used. VAT. is added to all this.
A average house uses about 800 units per month. The cost breakdown is R760.48 electricity used R1086.90 for the other charges. This makes my unit price R2.30 .From this it can be seeing that the more I use the cheaper my unit price becomes. When tariff increases come Eskom increase the other charges at the same rate as the electricity increase. Which is ridiculous. A transformer such as mine costs R14000.00 today And mine has been in use for 18 yrs that I have been on this property It must of been paid for many times over. Why can they not calculate the unit price with all their delivery costs included. At present my electricity is the most expensive in the world, with no insentive to use less.
